Oof.

Deciding that we really do need to get organized, I sent Rich to the basement to retrieve key baby items and to see what we need to get/replace.

Much to our dismay things that we thought we had have been completely ruined by mold. We're not sure if this happened in our old house, during the move, or from just being in our cellar. But at any rate the magical swing which kept rafi happy and rested during nap time when he was a baby is completely ruined, and worse, my very expensive breast pump is complete dust.

I could just cry (and I actually may have done).

I'm already feeling a tad overwhelmed by the long list of things we have to get, if not immediately, then in the near future, and not being able to go out and get things is not helping. I am, though, about to order a new car seat - finally. So that will be one urgent item off of our list.

But not just a dreary news update. Yesterday, after 4 days of basically not getting up out of the bed, Rich and Raf took me out for a quick bite to eat at one of our favourite places on the coast. Raf said that 'chips' (fries) make him happy... so much like his mama!

  1. So sorry about the mold! My sister had the same problem with many baby clothes she put away (before her first baby was even born!). What kind of pump were you using? I just ask because I can try to look up where I got mine. It was a place that guaranteed lowest price and I price matched with a different company then also got a free gift. I have a Medela Freestyle (and it's nearly worn out with all the pumping I had to do that first year!).

  2. Thanks, Julie.. we just cannot believe it! Thankfully baby clothes were fine... but a few bigger items such as the pump and swing (which we could not have done without with Rafio) are completely ruined. My friend just offered me hers, which is incredibly kind. I was wondering if mine was going to be worn out from so much use, too, so I don't know what to do. From January all insurance companies will have to cover breast pumps, I think, so I'm going to ring my insurance tomorrow to see if and when they begin covering them as some companies are making the changes almost immediately. I also have (had!) the Medela Freestyle and liked it a lot. I just found it for $250 on Amazon... which seems pretty competitive. Would love to know where you got yours, though!

  4. Of course I can't find it and I didn't write it in our check register! I'm sorry! I think the 250 is a good price, though. Mine might have been just a tad lower but that was almost 3 yrs ago, too.

  5. Oh how annoying. Just take it a day at a time with short lists of things you can do tht day and all will get done even though you'll think if you don't do it now it will never get done it so will. You have friends who will rally round for you if you get stuck, my included . I love you. Do you need another video?

  6. I have to say, for someone who's been on bedrest and is having a difficult pregnancy, you look just gorgeous in that photo of you and Rafi. :)
Sea air and chips - perfect! :)

So sorry that the mould has got hold of your items. How frustrating for you when you already have so much to do. Keep resting and keep believing that everything will be ready and perfect for when this little one makes his arrival. x

  8. Thanks so much, all. I managed, I think, to find a replacement pad for the swing online and I'm just hoping that the straps clean up. I think I was in a bit of a panic/funk when I posted last night but everyone has been incredibly kind. What would I do without you lot!?
