Advent: Day 14

We've been looking forward to this advent treat for weeks! My friend Ann, and her son, Rowan (Raf's best friend) were booked to go on the 'Candy Cane Train'. I'd never even heard of it, but it's a wonderful alternative to the Polar Express train ride we took last Christmas. It's really reasonably priced, lasts much longer, and as we discovered yesterday, it's so much more fun. The boys had a brilliant time, and for Raf it was a complete surprise!

What!?? He was able to read Rowan's name on the card, which made it even more thrilling.

It was also a 'mummy and Rafi' day, so we headed up there early to make the most of the festivities. It's in Bath, Maine, which is about an hour away from our house. It's been FREEZING here, and yesterday was no exception. Actually, we'd been due to ride the train on the Sunday but with a big storm brewing we managed to change the days so that we'd be able to get there. So glad that we did as the snow is coming down very hard now.

There were only a few people there when we got there, so we took advantage of Mrs. Christmas who was reading stories.

And then Raf spied the trains! He was the only one there in the room so he got a chance to control the trains himself. He loved it.

And then Row arrived! So happy. The train enthusiasts together.

And then it was ready to board the train and Raf was off!

The anticipation...

Father Christmas came! And Raf explained that he wanted trains and puzzles.

Singers came into the coach and sang some fun Christmas songs. And then when we got to our destination, the elves got off the train and danced for all the children! Bless them, because it was bitterly cold.

Train fun!

More story time.

And looking out for a man waving a large candy cane...!

Going over a bridge.

Departing the train. Such a wonderful few hours.

Best friends...

Wonderful day with my big boy.
